Kings Court Apartments prove demand for city centre living
25th June 2018
City centre living has been out of favour for the last generation, with many renters seeking refuge in the suburbs. The choice of narrow streets lined with double parked cars seemingly more alluring than negotiating bicycles that rest in cramped hallways, waiting to scrape vulnerable bare ankles.
Move on 20 years though and the rental market has progressed and matured beyond recognition. No longer willing to struggle with locating parking spaces, or prepared to risk their designer clad ankles, todays trendsetting professionals are looking for a fresh approach to the property market, and they’re certainly finding it in Warrington.
Letting agents James Peacock Property have been overwhelmed with the response to their luxury £5m development at Kings Court, with just one apartment left to rent, despite only being released in January.
The 32 loft style properties, including two penthouses in the centre of Warrington have been snapped up by professionals wanting to rent luxury homes with an easy commute, spacious art filled communal areas and cycle storage designed to free up the designer clad hallways.
Last week statistics compiled by independent think tank, Centre for Cities revealed that Warrington has enjoyed a 60% increase in city centre living in their report on the fastest growing city populations in the UK 2002 – 2015. This increase in city centre living places Warrington in the top third of UK cities (ranked as 22nd highest in the UK) and third highest city in the North West ranked behind Liverpool (who topped the table) and Manchester
The good news comes as James Peacock received planning consent for a further 24 executive apartments in the old Lloyds Bank at Town Hill, which are set to outshine anything that Warrington has seen before.
Adam Jude, Business Director at James Peacock Properties said ‘the speed of the lettings and volume of enquiries that we are receiving shows that there is a demand for high quality residential lets in the town centre. We are encouraged that our plans for contemporary apartments at Town Hill will be equally as popular.
Steve Park, Managing Director of Warrington & Co. Warrington’s partnership for growth added
‘Warrington’s town centre residential renaissance is well underway. It is encouraging to see Warrington placed so high on the list and there are hundreds more dwellings planned or coming available. This is a trend set to continue as the resurgence of Warrington town centre continues especially with the Time Square development set to open in 2020 and the continued growth of Stadium Quarter’
